Powerful Service...

When your hydraulic cylinder rods or industrial components need added wear protection, Fluid Power's in-house hard chrome plating facility can handle your most demanding needs.

The majority of Fluid Power's hard chrome plating is performed for hydraulic cylinders repaired at our facility.

Fluid Power also performs hard chrome plating for customers that repair their own cylinders, and for those who have other components needing added wear protection.

What is Hard Chrome Plating?

Hard chromium plating is chrome plating that has been applied as a fairly heavy coating (usually measured in thousandths of an inch) for wear resistance, lubricity, oil retention, and other wear resistance purposes. Some examples would be hydraulic cylinder rods, rollers, and piston rings.

Hard Chrome Plating is used almost exclusively on the surface of hydraulic cylinder rods. Having the ability to remove old chrome, resurface and re-plate your cylinder rods is cost effective and maintains the integrity of the original equipment.

There are variations of hard chrome plating, with some of the coatings optimized to be especially porous for oil retention, etc.
